Why should I get a system with NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps if I already have the apps on my phone?

NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps appears on your vehicle's display screen, making it easy and convenient to operate. You'll now be able to more easily enjoy your apps on the go, and in the car.

Does NissanConnectSM use voice recognition technology?

Voice recognition is available on certain NissanConnectSM systems. Some of the apps and features enable voice recognition, while others read out app data using text to speech.

How can I tell if I have the latest version of the NissanConnectSM App?

Check the Apple App Store, or Google Play to make sure you have the latest version.

Do data and interactions while in the vehicle transfer back to the phone when texting or using other applications? For example, when I leave my vehicle, can I see the text messages I've sent using the NissanConnect system on my phone?

Just like a phone call, text messaging is handled via Bluetooth. The vehicle acts as a gateway to the device, so any text that is sent or received stays on the device.

I have a Blackberry / Windows phone. Can I use NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps?

NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps is currently available for Apple and Android operating systems.

What information do I need to sign up for a NissanConnectSM account?

To create your NissanConnectSM account, you'll need a corresponding Nissan Owner Portal account. Your Username and Password will be used to log in to the NissanConnectSM companion app. To complete your Owner Portal registration, you'll need to have your VIN handy.

Enrolling is quick, and easy. Just install the NissanConnectSM App, create your account, and—depending on your phone and system—either pair your smartphone to the vehicle, or plug in using the USB cable. [*] You'll be able to customize apps and services to your liking.

Yes, NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps relies on your smartphone data plan to access the content and services that the apps you use require. Standard data rates will apply.

Does NissanConnectSM enrollment require my smartphone to be tethered by cord?

Only if you're connecting an iPhone® to a NissanConnectSM system equipped with navigation. Otherwise, your smartphone will use a Bluetooth® connection [*].

Does NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps support multiple phones and drivers?

Yes, you can have different mobile devices paired via Bluetooth®. However, connections will be prioritized by the order in which the phones were paired to the vehicle. [*]

If two owners with a connected smartphone are in the same vehicle, which phone's data does NissanConnectSM display?

Why does my iPhone® need to be connected via USB to my vehicle in order to use NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps?

Apple's operating system doesn't support the full range of Bluetooth® connectivity. This isn't unique to Nissan. [*]

How do I link my smartphone to the NissanConnectSM system?

If you're connecting an iPhone® to a NissanConnectSM system equipped with navigation, you'll need to plug in using the USB cable. [*] Otherwise, connect your smartphone through Bluetooth®. [*]

Is my iPhone® required to be physically connected to the vehicle to utilize all NissanConnectSM features?

It will need to be connected via USB cable to play music stored on your device. [*] Additionally, if your NissanConnectSM system is equipped with navigation, your iPhone® must be tethered to download and use NissanConnectSM in your vehicle.

Will the vehicle charge my iPhone® while connected to the USB port?

Yes.

I'm having trouble connecting my NissanConnectSM App to my vehicle. What can I do?

I’m experiencing problems connecting the NissanConnectSM App with my vehicle’s non-navigation audio system while connected via Bluetooth®. What can I do?

  • 1. Open the NissanConnectSM App and sign in using your Nissan Owner Portal account credentials, or select "Demo" mode or "Use as Guest" mode.

  • 2. Turn the vehicle ignition off and restart the vehicle and/or toggle Bluetooth® off and then on again using the audio system Bluetooth® menu.


I’m experiencing problems connecting the NissanConnectSM App with my vehicle’s navigation audio system while connected via Bluetooth®. What can I do?

  • 1. Open the NissanConnectSM App and sign in using your Nissan Owner Portal account credentials, or select "Demo" mode or "Use as Guest" mode.

  • 2. Press the APPS button on your audio system, then press the My Apps button on the screen to connect.

Can I use Text Messaging Assistant with any smartphone?

Text Messaging Assistant requires a compatible smartphone - please see www.NissanUSA.com/Bluetooth for compatibility. "Send Text" capability is currently only enabled for compatible Android phones. Compatible iPhone and Android phones can use Bluetooth text-to-voice technology to have texts read out loud.

I’m having trouble using my iPhone to listen to incoming text messages.

After the initial connection of the iPhone, find your vehicle’s Bluetooth name (e.g. My Murano) under the Bluetooth option in the Settings menu on your iPhone. Selecting the (i) icon will display an option for "Show Notifications". Turn this ON. Disconnect and reconnect the iPhone with the vehicle by either turning Bluetooth off and on again on your phone or turning the power off and on again on your phone. Incoming text messages should now be received by the vehicle.

I’m having trouble using my Android to send and receive text messages.

Please refer to www.NissanUSA.com/Bluetooth to determine if your Android smartphone is compatible with this service. If it is compatible, we recommend the following: after pairing your Android, a pop up message for "MAP request" may display. Make sure you check the "Don’t ask again" box and press "OK". You may also see a pop up message for "Contacts request" for phonebook access. Allow access to enable Text Messaging Assistant.

What NissanConnectSM functions are limited when driving?

Driver distraction regulations may cause certain functions to be unavailable while driving. For example, keyboard entry is only available when the vehicle is stationary.

Can I type while driving?

No, the keyboard is locked out while driving for safety. However, you can use voice response and customizable pre-loaded responses.

Which apps are included with NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps?

The list of currently available apps can be viewed in the 'Manage My Apps' section of the NissanConnectSM Web Portal, in the NissanConnectSM App, or in the Features & Availability section of the NissanConnectSM website.

Are there additional apps I can add to my account?

Certain NissanConnectSM systems offer Premium apps that you can subscribe to, at an additional cost. When Premium apps are available, they will be displayed in the 'Manage My Apps' section of the NissanConnectSM Web Portal, and in the NissanConnectSM App.

What features will my NissanConnectSM system include?

Since multiple NissanConnectSM systems are available, features will differ. Please refer to the Features & Availability section of the NissanConnectSM website at NissanUSA.com/connect.

Do I need to download certain apps on my smartphone before I can use them with my NissanConnectSM system?

The 'Manage My Apps' section of the NissanConnectSM Web Portal, and the NissanConnectSM companion app will display a smartphone icon next to any apps that need to be downloaded from your app store.

Can I use NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps services while driving?

Yes, all NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps services are available while the vehicle is in motion, but certain functions may be limited to prevent driver distractions. Keyboard entry, for example, is only available when the vehicle is stationary.

Will location-based apps work on NissanConnectSM systems without Navigation?

Location-based apps will not be available on vehicles without NAV. Apps with POI functionality—such as Facebook—will still be available, but the POI component of that app will not work. [*]

How many Google™ Send-to-Car destinations will my navigation save?

Your vehicle will show the 50 most recent destinations sent via Google™ Send-to-Car. If you have more than 50 destinations, the oldest will drop off as new destinations are sent to your vehicle.

Is SiriusXM All Access available on all vehicles equipped with satellite radio?

Yes. Customers who buy or lease a new Nissan equipped with SiriusXM can receive a free 3-month trial to the XM All Access package. With this package you'll enjoy over 150 channels in your Nissan, plus over 160 channels on your computer, smartphone, or tablet with SiriusXM Internet Radio. [*]

Should I be concerned about personal data security when connecting my smartphone to my NissanConnectSM system?

The NissanConnectSM system will not access personal information stored on your smartphone, such as the address book.

Does NissanConnectSM retain my billing information?

No personal billing information is stored in your NissanConnectSM system.

Does NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps store any personal data in the system?

It temporarily stores session information, but removes the data the next time you log in to your NissanConnectSM system.
