Nissan LEAF Q&A
HOW HAVE PEOPLE REACTED TO YOUR DECISION TO DRIVE ELECTRIC?
THEY SAID "YOU GUYS ARE AT THE FOREFRONT, AS USUAL"!
Lots of discussion sparked about what they think would work for them.
MY WIFE LOVES IT AND WANTS TO STEAL IT.
Most people are like "That's cool, but it doesn't make sense for me." Sometimes after I explain how much money I'm saving they decide that maybe they should give it a closer look themselves.
THEY THINK IT'S COOL.
Most who are interested are too apprehensive to take the plunge, but a few have learned enough to realize it's smarter both financially and environmentally.
ALL OF MY FAMILY HAS PRETTY MUCH SAID SOMETHING LIKE: "I HAVE NO IDEA WHY EVERYONE DOESN'T SWITCH TO ELECTRIC, AT LEAST FOR A FAMILY'S SECOND CAR".
My friends all think its cool, were surprised by how far it can go.
SOME THOUGHT I WAS NUTS. OTHERS ALREADY KNEW THIS.
I got a lot of "you drive so far to work! What if you can't make it there and back!?" to which I responded "I did the research and I'll be fine."
THEY LOVE IT AND THEY ARE ALL THINKING ABOUT GOING ELECTRIC.
MY IMMEDIATE FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO HAVE TAKEN A RIDE IN IT WISH THEY COULD GET ONE TOO.
The ones who haven't keep shaking their heads and wonder why I don't want a car that can do cross-country trips (because if it's that far, I'll take the LEAF to the airport and get there the nice way).
THEY WERE WONDERING ABOUT MY SANITY AT FIRST BUT NOW THEY LOVE THE CAR.
EVERYONE LOVES THE CAR.
They all understand why we chose to do it.
MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY WAS SUPPORTIVE.
They weren't sure the range would be sufficient but have since changed their minds. I take the LEAF everywhere and haven't been limited by it being all-electric.
MOST FRIENDS THINK OF AN ELECTRIC CAR AS A GLORIFIED GOLF CART—UNTIL THEY TAKE A RIDE.
Then they are so impressed with the peppiness, quietness, roominess, comfort—and, of course being able to pass by the gas pump. And when we explain how little maintenance is required, no emission testing, and no oil changes, they're wowed!
MOST ARE SURPRISED WHEN THEY GO FOR A RIDE.
Most still rationalize their lack of EVs, a small handful go buy one as well.
THEY ARE SUPPORTIVE AND ARE GLAD THAT I AM TRYING OUT THIS TECHNOLOGY BEFORE THEY DO.
They all know that it is the future they just don't know yet if the future is now and are watching to see if I withdraw my verdict of 'this is the best value on wheels.'
