Nissan LEAF Q&A
IS THE NISSAN LEAF A GOOD CAR FOR A FAMILY?
I HAVE 3 KIDS AGES 8-14 AND WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR HOME THEY ALL FELL IN LOVE WITH IT.
They think the back is roomy and they love the hi-tech feel of it. I have a Nissan Quest as well and they prefer driving in the LEAF, so now we drive it on the weekends as well while my Quest sits in the driveway for that once a year road trip we make.
I pick up my daughter and one of her classmates at school most days, and all of their backpacks and binders can fit in the storage area, along with a full load of groceries. Another plus is that my 10-year-old daughter takes tremendous pride in telling friends that her family has an all-electric car. Children today are incredibly aware of all things green, and it's great to hear her friends give our LEAF a rating of "Awesome!"
WE SHUTTLE KIDS AROUND A LOT.
Was costing us $200+/month in gas. The LEAF is big enough to be comfortable for our family of 4. (The Volt was too cramped).
WE ARE NOW ABLE TO JUSTIFY A LOT MORE ACTIVITIES BECAUSE THE COST OF TRANSPORTATION IS NEXT TO NOTHING.
We also have kids that have started participating in sports. This has dramatically increased our driving as we are 6 miles from their school. I don't even blink at the cost as it will be minimal and not even noticeable on our electric bill.
COMFORTABLE FOR MY FAMILY OF FOUR.
It's big enough for all of us vs. a minivan getting 18 mpg. We also looked at the Volt and it was too crowded for us.
