Nissan LEAF Q&A
IS THE NISSAN LEAF A CITY-ONLY CAR?
I LIVE IN A SMALL RURAL TOWN,
meaning that the "fun" social activities and clubs are at least a 30 minute drive into a larger city. The LEAF lets me get there and not feel guilty for blowing money on just transporting myself to where the fun is.
I LIVE IN AN IN-TOWN NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE MOST OF THE TRIPS ARE BETWEEN 20 AND 40 MILES PER DAY.
Atlanta is also installing ever increasing numbers of charging stations at public and work locations but I rarely need to charge anywhere other than my home at night.
I LIVE 20 MILES OUTSIDE OF THE CITY AND LEASED THE LEAF SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS REASON.
I wanted to save on gas for my long commute. If I lived closer in, I may not have looked into the LEAF but now that I have one I will never go back.
NO. I LIVE IN THE CITY AND DRIVE OUT TO BRENTWOOD ALL THE TIME. WHY NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND?
BEFORE I GOT IT, I WASN'T SURE HOW MUCH I'D USE IT AWAY FROM TOWN.
It turns out I use it a lot more, and I'm familiar with the sort of trips that are safe. Once I was nervous about going up a mountain, since I wasn't sure what kind of impact the elevation change would have on range, but it did fine.
NO, I THINK IT IS ALL ABOUT HOW MANY MILES YOU NEED TO DRIVE IN A DAY.
It is probably more economical for people who drive 50 miles a day because electricity is so much cheaper than gas!
MY COMMUTE IS LESS THAN TWO MILES, BUT MUCH OF MY OFFSITE DRIVING FOR WORK IS 35 FREEWAY MILES EACH WAY
with no chargers en-route. It just takes careful attention. I LOVE MY LEAF!!
MINNESOTA IS A BIT... SPREAD OUT.
You definitely need a car to get anywhere, and bus systems here are only really good for major downtown areas (if at all). The LEAF is great, because I can get anywhere I need to go, and I don't use a drop of gas.
