How to connect to Apple CarPlay

With a wired connection, your Apple device is physically connected to your vehicle using a USB cable, ensuring a stable and seamless experience. CarPlay is integrated into the operating system of your iPhone, so you don't need to download a standalone CarPlay app.

USB/Cord connectivity setup instructions

To set up Apple CarPlay:
Confirm that your Nissan vehicle supports Apple CarPlay
Connect your device to the USB port of your compatible Nissan
Follow the on-screen prompts on your car's display to set up Apple CarPlay

Wireless Apple CarPlay

With a wireless connection, you can connect your Apple device to your vehicle via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, allowing for a clutter-free setup.

Wireless setup instructions

To set up wireless Apple CarPlay:
Confirm that your Nissan vehicle supports Apple CarPlay
Press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel, and ensure that your stereo is set to Bluetooth or wireless.
On your iPhone, navigate to Settings > Wi-Fi, ensuring Wi-Fi is activated. Connect to the CarPlay network, ensuring Auto-Join is on.
Head to Settings > General > CarPlay on your iPhone, and choose your vehicle

I’m using the wireless Apple CarPlay feature, but want to turn on my NissanConnect Wi-Fi Hotspot. Is there a way I can use both at the same time?

The wireless features in your vehicle, including Wireless Apple CarPlay, over the air updates, and Wi-Fi Hotspot require use of your in-vehicle modem (if equipped). In order to continue using the features of Apple CarPlay, while utilizing other wireless features of your vehicle such as Wi-Fi Hotspot and over the air updates, please connect your Apple device to the provided USB connection located in your center console.

How do I connect Apple CarPlay to my Nissan?

To connect CarPlay and Siri on your iPhone, go to Settings > General and activate them. Connect your iPhone to USB 1 using a lightning cable. (Apple CarPlay will only work on the phone plugged into USB1. USB2 will not connect to Apple CarPlay.) Once you do, a message will appear on your Nissan infotainment screen, asking if you wish to connect to Apple CarPlay.

If my vehicle is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay, how do I connect?

Activate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your iPhone and pair your iPhone to NissanConnect via Bluetooth. Once paired, a message will appear on your Nissan infotainment system, asking if you wish to connect to Apple CarPlay.

Can I stream Bluetooth® audio from my iPhone® while running CarPlay?

Bluetooth audio cannot be streamed from a device running Apple CarPlay. If you are using a wired connection, you can use another device paired with the vehicle to stream audio. If you are using a wireless connection, you can plug your other device into the USB2 port to stream audio.

What is the difference between Apple CarPlay and Siri Eyes Free?

Apple CarPlay is meant to integrate with your vehicle’s infotainment system, offering a simplified interface on your vehicle’s touchscreen display to control various iPhone functions. On the other hand, Siri Eyes Free focuses on voice commands and requires a Bluetooth connection to operate.

Why can't I access Siri® using the steering wheel switch?

Make sure that you are pushing and holding the TALK button on the right side of the steering wheel instead of just pushing the switch. (Short press initiates native Voice Recognition).

You should also do the following:
- Confirm that Siri® is enabled on your iPhone®.
- Confirm that your USB cable is properly connected. Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable, ensuring it's connected to USB1.
