Nissan sponsors 2015 Gay Softball World Series
This year, Nissan partnered with the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA) to sponsor the 39th Annual Gay Softball World Series. This event took place in Columbus Ohio, from August 14 to 22, drawing more than 180 teams from across North America.
To kick off the event the opening ceremony featured food trucks, fireworks, and music, including an electrifying performance from the headliner, Grammy-nominated country music star Ty Herndon.
The five-day multi-division tournament welcomed teams from 43 cities across the US and Canada and drew crowds of more than 10,000 athletes, coaches, and fans. Games were played on 18 of 31 fields at Columbus’ Berliner Park—the largest softball complex in the United States.
After the final game was played, a closing block party and awards ceremony finished off the event, with celebrity performances including En Vogue.
Nissan’s first-ever LGBT ad campaign featured the all-new 2016 Maxima. Other Nissan vehicles were showcased throughout the event. Nissan's Gay Straight Alliance Network (GSAN) is the driving force behind the company's LGBT outreach efforts. Since 2013, Nissan has scored a perfect 100 in the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Corporate Equality Index for its LGBT-inclusive policies and commitment to the community.
