Rogue Intelligent AWD

Control and confidence, by design
For the ultimate feeling of confidence behind the wheel in a variety of different road conditions, look no further than Nissan’s Intelligent AWD. With drive modes and sophisticated technology backed by solid engineering, Rogue takes AWD technology to new heights, so you can explore new roads.[1, 2, 3, 4]

Intelligence, evolved

The 2021 Rogue features the latest Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) technology for more capability and a better overall driving experience in a wide variety of conditions. Nissan’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive gives you the control of 4WD with the efficiency of 2WD. By continuously monitoring surface conditions, Intelligent AWD distributes torque between the front and rear axles based on available traction for all-weather adaptability. When extra traction isn’t needed, the system switches to powering just the front wheels for more fuel efficiency.[1, 2]
The 2021 Rogue advances Intelligent AWD further with a new AWD coupling, which uses an electronically controlled wet multi-plate clutch to transfer torque between front and rear wheels almost instantly for superior traction. Intelligent AWD also features and AWD Lock mode, helping in those really slippery situations.[1, 2]
Drive Mode With a variety of sophisticated sensors, Rogue’s AWD system is capable of reacting to help reduce tire slippage and provide optimal traction. But if a driver wants more confidence for a given road condition, they can select either Snow Mode for wet or icy situations, or Off-Road Mode for driving in sandy or generally loose terrain.[1, 2]
Off-Road Mode Occasionally you may find yourself driving on dirt roads that don’t receive regular surfacing and maintenance. For these moments, Rogue offers a specific drive mode called Off-Road Mode. To compensate for uneven, dirt or gravel roads, Rogue varies its AWD settings to minimize wheel slippage and help drivers avoid being stuck. It accomplishes this by starting Rogue with AWD Lock engaged, holding lower gear ratios longer, and slowing throttle response to assist the driver in keeping an even amount of throttle. This enables more controlled, confident driving over more slippery, uneven terrain, resulting in a more confident driving experience over varied terrain than many other crossovers offer.[1, 2]
Snow Mode As any seasoned driver knows, no two bad weather days on the road are alike. The conditions always vary widely. Select Snow Mode and Rogue can adapt to a wide range of snowy, icy and even wet conditions with a number of counter measures, including using a higher gear ratio to make the throttle less sensitive for more predictable acceleration, increased steering weight for a higher feeling of control, and locking AWD from a standstill for maximum traction. The end result is a driving experience that gives you the confidence you’ll need for the worst days of winter.[1, 2]
