Reason for Recall

Nissan is issuing an immediate DO NOT DRIVE warning for certain model year 2002-2006 Nissan Sentra and 2002-2004 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles in the United States and Canada affected by open Takata airbag recalls. Nissan strongly advises drivers not to drive affected vehicles until the FREE repair has been completed.

Due to the age of the vehicles equipped with defective Takata airbag inflators, there is an increased risk the inflator could explode during an airbag deployment, propelling sharp metal fragments which can cause serious injury or death. Drivers are urged to stop driving the vehicle immediately and contact their local authorized Nissan dealer to schedule the necessary free repair. Dealers are prepared to provide free towing; options including mobile repair or a loaner car are also available in select locations. To check if your vehicle is part of this important safety recall, please visit the Nissan official recall webpage at https://www.nissanusa.com/recalls-vin.html and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Nissan's do not drive warning is the most recent effort in an extensive, multi-year campaign to communicate the risk of driving vehicles with defective Takata inflators and urge drivers to complete the free recall repair. For additional questions or concerns, Nissan clients can contact Customer Service at 800-NISSAN-1.
