Nissan Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
NISSAN FOR EVERYONE. When everyone belongs, the power of NISSAN is undeniable.
Pillars, Plan & Success Metrics
People: Unlock every employee's potential to do the best work of their life.
Culture: Build a safe space where curiosity and openness drive innovation.
Partners: Create avenues of opportunity in our industry for employees, consumers, dealers, suppliers and the community.
Our Corporate Diversity Initiative aims to improve business results by ensuring that our core businesses (Sales, Marketing and Distribution, Manufacturing, Research & Development, Design, Procurement, and administrative support functions) meet the distinct needs of an increasingly diverse customer base and labor market. Nissan is committed to creating a culture where everyone belongs and employees, customers, and partners feel respected, valued, and heard.
Promoting diversity is just good business. Because our workplace, our marketplace, our community - they're all connected.
Accelerating Progress in Black Music & Tech
This Black History Month, Nissan is continuing to amplify Black excellence in music by partnering with our Electric Beats producers and some of the most brilliant minds in music to empower the next generation of Black music creators. We're extending our mission-driven initiatives beyond Black History Month to make long-standing change in music and technology for the Black community. Stay tuned for what's next.
The Thrill of Possibility: The Black Effect
Supporting LGBTQ+ Communities across the United States
We want our pool of suppliers and contractors to reflect the diversity of the consumers who buy our vehicles.
Nissan’s Dealer Diversity program is the first of its kind for the company and the genesis of our recent increase in minority dealers. The program creates a purposeful partnership where:
- Nissan places minority dealer candidates in healthy stores in great markets.
- The dealer candidate is the owner day one, rather than a lengthy buy out process.
- Financial, marketing and operational progress and planning are offered.
Nissan values inclusion in all areas of our business, including procuring innovative goods and services and retailing our cars, as we work to prioritize the diversity of our customer base.

The mission of the Nissan Foundation is to build community by valuing cultural diversity. Created in 1992 as a compassionate response to the Rodney King trial verdict and subsequent riots in Southern California, the Nissan Foundation awards grants each summer to organizations promoting respect and understanding among cultural and ethnic groups.
In This Together
Nissan recognizes the importance and value of a diverse workforce. Moreover, we're committed to finding ways to create career opportunities for our employees who have both the desire to grow in a supportive and collaborative business environment. We have made a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and we’re holding ourselves accountable. That is how change happens. This is not a moment in time, but a journey to a much stronger Nissan and society.

NNA has a longstanding relationship with the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers (NAMAD) to ensure progress in increasing the number of ethnic-minority owned dealerships in Nissan’s dealer network to better reflect the ethnic diversity among Nissan’s consumer base. Nissan supports the efforts of NAMAD through an annual corporate sponsorship.
Since the early 80’s Nissan has utilized a nationally recognized college internship program to identify and prepare talented students for Nissan employment. Through partnerships with minority organizations and numerous scholarship programs, Nissan aims to develop and place minority youth into the business and prepare them for corporate and community leadership.
